Important features that help separate the Heads Up Decoy from the competition that are worth discussing.

Wind:

Wind and silhouette decoys have never been a good mix. We understand that there may not be the ideal silhouette decoy out on the market that is totally "wind proof", but we believe that the Heads Up Decoys are as "wind resistant" as they come. We've designed specific components to combat this problem.

  1. The end of every handle has a notch through the center of the rod. When inserted into the "tee" fitting correctly, the notch fits securely around a small diameter tube fitted inside the main support tubing and hidden by the "tee" fitting.
  2. The "tee" fitting is secured to the support tubing by a peg driven through the tee and into the inserted tubing.

These 2 features make it so the Heads Up Decoy, when in use or displayed in a hunting situation, will not spin on the handle or at the "tee" fitting with a gust of wind or brisk prevailing wind. So you can use it with confidence in those situations.

Tips for Use:

The Heads Up Decoy is designed to be versatile and realistic without tying the hunter down. As you can see from the picture illustrations above, the decoy is compact, light weight, and when used properly, is visible and realistic enough to give the impression that the rest of the animal is being blocked by whatever you are being concealed by...this is especially true for the Cow Elk and the Mule Deer Doe decoys.

As been stated throughout this site, the decoy is designed not to weigh you down or tie you down. Its design allows the hunter to "Be mobile...Stay Mobile" with the capabilities to animate the decoy to draw attention to it and to allow the hunter to move as the animals move in an effort to engage the animal to be decoyed multiple times if necessary.

For best result, we recommend the two person team approach with the shooter ahead and just off the direct line of the animal anywhere between 20 to 60 yards depending on the cover and the terrain.

For single hunter use, we recommend flashing the decoy. Let the animal see the decoy and the movement.

But hey, don't let use tell you how to use it. It's designed to help you, the hunter, to be able to use it in anyway you see fit and to be taken any where your body is capable of going. EXCEPT DURING GUN SEASON.

How to care for your decoy:

Your decoy is designed to last you for many seasons, but proper care must be done to ensure that your decoy will continue to produce season after season.

  1. Do not bend the tubing beyond it's 3.5" bending radius when coiling the support frame into the decoy for transport.
  2. Do not place the decoy near an open flame or any other device that may melt the tubing and or cloth.
  3. Store the decoy in either the coiled or fully deployed position.
  4. If you must clean the decoy, hand wash in cold water using a sports wash and let it air dry. Do Not Iron.
  5. To reduce the stress on the seams of the pocket, push the decoy down the tubing when attaching or disconnecting the hoop.
